Why Couples Choose an Open-Air Tent Wedding Venue in Glen Gardner

We know that searching for a wedding venue can feel overwhelming. You're weighing indoor ballrooms against outdoor gardens, comparing amenities, and wondering which space will actually feel like you. At Born to Run Farm, we've hosted hundreds of celebrations since 2016, and we've noticed something consistent: couples who choose our open-air tent setup often tell us they wanted the beauty of an outdoor wedding without sacrificing comfort or flexibility.

Located at the top of Point Mountain in Glen Gardner, our venue gives you mountain top views and the freedom to celebrate under Edison bulb lighting inside a fully equipped tent. You're not choosing between nature and infrastructure here. You get both.

The Appeal of Open-Air Tent Weddings in Glen Gardner

When couples tour our property, they ask what makes an open-air tent wedding different from a traditional outdoor ceremony. The answer is control. You're celebrating outside with mountain top views, but you have structure, lighting, and shelter built in from the start.

The tent isn't a weather backup. It's the venue. Couples who choose this setup want an outdoor atmosphere without uncertainty. Everything you need is already standing at the top of Point Mountain.

A Tent That Feels Like a Venue, Not a Backup Plan

Our 40' x 100' tent isn't a contingency option. It's the heart of the celebration. The structure comes with carpet flooring, a chandelier, and side walls that adjust based on the weather. Edison bulb lighting runs overhead, and the space holds a 28' x 18' dance floor, 20 round tables in 60" and 72" sizes, and 240 white resin folding chairs.

The tent setup means you can host ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions all on one property without worrying about guest transitions or weather disrupting your timeline. We've seen couples use the 20' x 40' tent for cocktail hour near the wine barrel bar, then move everyone into the main tent for dinner and dancing.

Ceremony Flexibility Without the Gamble

You'll have a ceremony site with an arbor, chairs, and benches ready to go. If conditions shift, the tent gives you a backup that doesn't feel like settling. Some couples start their ceremony outdoors by the pond and complete it under the tent if rain rolls in. Others plan for the tent from the beginning, especially for late fall or early spring weddings when temperatures can be unpredictable.

Because the tent is already standing and equipped, there's no scrambling or last-minute setup stress. The infrastructure is there whether you need it or not.

Mountain Top Views Meet Practical Infrastructure

We're on top of Point Mountain. That means views, but it also means wind and weather exposure. The tent side walls give you protection while keeping sight lines open. Guests can see the surrounding landscape without standing in direct wind or dealing with temperature swings.

The tent also gives you control over lighting and ambiance. As the sun sets, the chandelier and Edison bulbs create warmth inside the space without requiring you to move indoors or adjust your timeline. You can stay outside all evening.

Space for Your People and Your Style

Our packages accommodate intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. The Daisy package includes everything you need for a full reception: the tented space, tables, chairs, ceremony setup, dance floor, cocktail hour bar, and reception bar. If you want farm tables instead of rounds, the Elouise package adds 20 farm tables and a vintage horse trailer bar. The Dorothy package builds on that with a bridal suite available five hours before your wedding, outdoor lounge furniture, and an engagement photo session.

Open-Air Tent Wedding Venue

We've hosted couples who brought 50 guests and couples who filled all 240 chairs. The tent scales to fit your group, and the setup adapts based on what you prioritize.

Vendor Flexibility in a Structured Space

We work with preferred vendors across catering, entertainment, photography, florals, and planning, but the tent setup gives your team room to work. Caterers like WillowSage, Bex, or Qcrew can run service from the reception bar area. Florists such as Bespoke or Solstice have space to build installations around the arbor or inside the tent. Photographers from Janine Collette, MZ, or Wildflower use the mountain top views and the vintage horse trailer bar for portraits throughout the day.

If you're working with a planner like Made Simple or An Affair to Remember, the tent gives them a defined footprint to design within. The structure provides a framework without limiting creativity.

A Working Farm That Stays Functional During Your Event

Born to Run Farm is still a working farm. We have approximately 30 cows, a dozen sheep, 2 donkeys, and chickens on the property. None of them is sent to the market. They live here, and guests often walk over to see them before or after the ceremony.

The Gerish family purchased this land in 1978 as a family getaway and horse training space. When we opened the venue in 2016, we kept the farm operational. The tent setup means your celebration happens in a designated area while the animals continue their routines nearby. It's not a themed experience. It's just how the property functions.

What's Included and What You'll Plan Separately

Every package includes 6 banquet tables, table numbers, umbrellas, staff support, golf cart services, parking, and a fire pit. If you're hosting more than 75 guests, a bathroom trailer is required, and the size adjusts based on your count.

You'll handle catering, bar service, decor, and entertainment separately with the vendors you choose. We provide the structure, furniture, and foundational setup. You bring in the team that makes it personal.

If you want to add elements like a champagne wall or extra lounge furniture, those are available à la carte.

Planning Your Visit

We don't do walk-ins. You'll need a reservation to tour the property and see the tent setup in person. Contact us at 973-349-0129 or fill out the form on our site to access the pricing guide and schedule your visit. Once you're here, you'll get a full walkthrough of the space, the packages, and how events flow from ceremony to reception.

The mountain top views and open-air tent combination aren't for everyone. But if you're looking for an outdoor celebration with the comfort and control of a structured venue, this setup might be exactly what you've been trying to picture.

FAQs

Do I need to rent the tent separately, or is it included in my package?

The 40' x 100' tent with Edison bulb lighting, chandelier, carpet flooring, and side walls is included in all packages starting with The Daisy. You don't rent it separately. The tent is part of the venue infrastructure.

What happens if the weather changes on my wedding day?

The tent is already standing with side walls that adjust based on conditions. Your ceremony site is available with an arbor, chairs, and benches, and you can move the ceremony under the tent if needed. There's no scrambling or last-minute decisions about whether to proceed outdoors.

Can I bring my own caterer and bartenders?

We work with preferred vendors in categories including catering, but the tent gives your team the space to operate. You'll coordinate with vendors like WillowSage, Bex, Qcrew, Deli Boys, Logan's, or others to handle food and bar service. The reception bar and cocktail hour setup are part of the package.

How many guests can the tent hold?

The Daisy package includes 240 white resin folding chairs and 20 round tables in 60" and 72" sizes. If you're hosting more than 75 guests, a bathroom trailer is required, and the size adjusts based on your count. The space scales for intimate gatherings or larger celebrations.
