How Born to Run Farm Turns North Jersey Outdoor Weddings into Timeless Memories

We've been part of hundreds of celebrations on Point Mountain, and there's something we've learned: the weddings people remember years later aren't just well executed events. They're experiences that feel personal, unhurried, and rooted in a place that matters.

Born to Run Farm started as a family retreat in 1978 when Jay and Joan Gerish fell in love with this mountaintop in Glen Gardner. In 2016, we opened our gates to couples who wanted something different from a ballroom. Today, we're a working farm where ~30 cows, a dozen sheep, 2 donkeys, and barnyard chickens live alongside wedding celebrations. None of our animals goes to market. They're part of the landscape your guests will experience, part of what makes this place feel alive.

Outdoor Weddings

When you host your wedding here, you're not renting a blank canvas. You're stepping into a family story that now includes yours.

Creating Weddings That Feel Like You

Your wedding day at Born to Run Farm isn't about fitting into a template. We provide the foundation, the structure, the property, and you build your celebration within it. Here's what that actually looks like on the ground.

The Spaces and How Your Day Unfolds

Our 40' x 100' tent anchors most receptions. It comes with Edison bulb lighting strung overhead, so when the sun sets and those bulbs warm up, the whole space glows without feeling overly styled. The tent includes carpet flooring, a chandelier, and side walls if the weather shifts. Your ceremony happens at a dedicated site with an arbor, chairs, and benches. Guests move naturally from vows to cocktails at our wine barrel bar setup, then into the tent for dinner and dancing on the 28' x 18' floor.

We also set up a 20' x 40' tent that works as overflow seating, a lounge area with our outdoor furniture, or a quiet spot for older guests. You decide how to use it.

What Comes with Your Booking

Every package includes 6 banquet tables, 20 round tables in 60" and 72" sizes, and 240 white resin folding chairs. We provide table numbers, umbrellas for sun coverage, staff support throughout your event, golf cart services to move guests or gear around the property, a fire pit, and parking. If you're expecting more than 75 guests, we bring in a bathroom trailer sized to your headcount.

Our three tiers, The Daisy, The Elouise, and The Dorothy, layer in extras like 20 farm tables, the vintage horse trailer bar, a bridal suite available five hours before your ceremony, and an engagement photo session. You pick what matters to your vision.

How We Guide You Through Planning

From your first site visit (which requires a reservation), we walk you through the property and talk about how your day might flow. We don't hand you a checklist and disappear. Our team stays involved, helping you think through timing, guest flow, and which of our preferred vendors align with your style. You'll work with caterers like WillowSage or Deli Boys, photographers like Janine Collette, florists like Solstice or Dutch Valley, and entertainment from DJ Express or Showoff, all of whom know this venue and how to work within it.

We customize setups to match your preferences, but we're not full service planners. If you need that level of coordination, we can connect you with Made Simple or An Affair to Remember.

The Mountain and the Moment

Glen Gardner sits in North Jersey, but Point Mountain feels removed from traffic and deadlines. Guests mention the views in their toasts. Photographers use natural light and open fields without needing much direction. You'll have access to the land for photos, and your party can gather around the fire pit after dinner if the night's cool.

Farm Wedding Venue

This isn't a hidden gem trying to stay secret. It's a working farm that happens to be a beautiful place to get married.

We've hosted intimate gatherings and grand celebrations, and each one looked different because each couple brought their own vision. We just make sure the farm is ready to hold it.

If you want a wedding that feels less like a production and more like a memory in the making, reach out. We'd be glad to show you around.
