When couples visit Born to Run Farm for the first time, they usually come for the mountain top views. They stay because of the cows.

We're not exaggerating. Our venue sits on Point Mountain in Glen Gardner, and yes, the scenery is incredible. But what makes photos here feel different is that you're sharing the day with about 30 cows, a dozen sheep, 2 donkeys, and a scattered crew of chickens. They wander, they graze, they photobomb. Your wedding album doesn't just capture you. It captures life happening around you.

That's the advantage of getting married on a working farm. Nothing is staged.

Why Our Farm Animals Make Your Wedding Photos Feel Authentic

Your photographer will have plenty to work with here. Between the mountain views, the pasture landscapes, and the animals who actually live on this property, there's no shortage of authentic backdrops. But what makes the difference isn't just scenery. It's the fact that everything you see is real, working, and completely unscripted. That's what shows up in your photos.

Farm Wedding Venue

The Residents Who Call This Place Home

Jay and Joan Gerish bought this land in 1978. It started as a family getaway and horse training space. When we opened as a wedding venue in 2016, we made one rule: the farm stays a farm. None of our animals go to market. They live full, happy lives here, which means they're calm, curious, and completely unfazed by a bride in a veil or a string quartet warming up near the pasture.

You'll see them during your engagement session if you book The Dorothy package. You'll spot them in the background during cocktail hour. And if you're lucky, one of the donkeys will wander close enough to make it into a candid shot while you're laughing with your bridesmaids.

Where the Best Photo Moments Happen

Our ceremony site comes with an arbor, chairs, and benches. The view stretches across Point Mountain. But walk a little farther and you'll find the pasture fence, the barn backdrop, and animals who are more than happy to be in your frame. Photographers love it here because the light is clean, the landscape is varied, and there's always something authentic to capture.

We provide golf cart services to move between spaces, which means you can get to the ceremony site, back to the cocktail hour setup with the wine barrel bar, and over to the reception tent without wearing out your heels. That mobility matters when you want photos in multiple spots.

Three Setups That Give You Room to Move

We offer three wedding packages, and each one includes different combinations of tents, tables, and bars. The Daisy gives you a 40' x 100' tent with Edison bulb lighting, carpet flooring, a chandelier, and side walls, plus a 20' x 40' tent, round tables, 240 white resin folding chairs, and a 28' x 18' dance floor. The Elouise adds 20 farm tables and a vintage horse trailer bar. The Dorothy includes everything from the first two, plus a bridal suite available five hours before the wedding, outdoor lounge furniture, and an engagement photo session.

All of this sits on open land where your photographer can work with natural surroundings instead of fighting them. You're not boxed into one ballroom angle. You have pastures, mountain views, and farm structures to work with.

How We Support Your Day Without Getting in the Way

Our team provides guidance throughout planning, but we're not directing your choices. We handle the setup, staff support, parking, and the practical pieces like table numbers, umbrellas, and a fire pit. You bring your vision, and we make sure the land is ready for it.

We also work with a preferred vendor list that includes caterers, photographers, florists, and planners who know the property. That said, you're not locked in. You have flexibility here.

If you're hosting more than 75 guests, a bathroom trailer is required and included. For smaller gatherings, we adjust accordingly. The spaces work for intimate ceremonies and larger celebrations, and we'll walk you through what makes sense for your group size.

What to Expect When You Book

A reservation is necessary to view the property, which lets us give you a real tour instead of a rushed walkthrough. You'll meet the animals. You'll see where the tents go. And you'll get a sense of how the day flows from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception.

Wedding Venue

Once you book, you'll have access to our team for planning support. We're a family owned venue, and that shows in how we operate. You're not one of 40 weddings in a season. You're working with people who know this land and want your day to feel personal.

If you're planning a baby shower, bridal shower, birthday, or corporate retreat, the same principles apply. We customize the setup, you bring your people, and the farm provides a backdrop that doesn't need extra decoration to feel complete.

FAQs

Can we include our pets in the wedding photos?

We're a farm with resident animals, and while we love the idea of pets being part of your day, we ask that you coordinate with us in advance. Our animals are calm and used to events, but adding dogs or other pets requires a conversation to make sure everyone stays comfortable.

Do you allow us to bring our own photographer?

Yes. We have a preferred vendor list that includes photographers who know the property, but you're welcome to bring your own. We just ask that they're familiar with working in outdoor, farm settings where lighting and terrain vary.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

All of our packages include tents with side walls. The Daisy has a 40' x 100' tent and a 20' x 40' tent, both with coverage for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We plan for weather so you don't have to worry about it.

How far in advance should we book?

To view the property, you'll need to schedule a reservation. Once you visit and decide to move forward, we recommend booking as early as possible, especially for peak season dates. Contact us at 973-349-0129 or Joseph@borntorunfarm.com to check availability.
